How To Stop Windows Screen Saver Asking For Password

Windows computers come built-in with quite a useful set of security features intended to protect the computer from unauthorized access. Windows Firewall and Security Center, included into the Windows operating system, provides a good level of security for your Windows computers. The best part is that Windows allows users to configure the security settings as per user requirements.
Among the security features, screensaver password lock is one of the basic ones. By enabling the screen saver password, you can make your computer more secure. This is especially useful if the computer is in a public environment. The screen saver password would be the same that you use when you log onto Windows. With this feature enabled on the computer, users are required to enter a password to unlock the screen when returning from the screen saver. But some may find it a bit annoying to have this feature turned on, as they have to repeatedly re-enter the system password to return to the computer desktop. If you are the only one who is using your computer and don’t need such a protection, you could disable this security feature easily. The following Windows Help guidelines will let you accomplish the task without needing to go for any external IT support.
Instructions for disabling the Windows screen saver password lock
·         Choose a blank area on your computer desktop screen. Place your mouse cursor on that area and simply right-click there.
·         From the popup menu, click on the option “Personalize”. This will bring up the Personalize window where you can change the look and feel of your computer.
·         Now click on “Screen Saver” tab to adjust the settings for your computer screen saver.
·         Under this tab, look for the option labeled "On resume, display logon screen” and unmark the checkbox next to it. If this option is selected, you are taken to the logon screen where you have to re-enter your computer password to get back onto your desktop from the screen saver. Deselecting this option enables you to return to your desktop without having to re-type your password.

Now that you have disabled the screen saver lockout password, you can dispense with having to key-in the password every now and then. The only thing is that you should be mindful of the potential consequences that may arise, after disabling such a security feature. Windows IT support is available for users who need advanced help when troubleshooting certain issues.
