Clearing Windows Updates

  • You can start out the process by going to Windows Start menu that is located at the bottom corner of your computer screen. There is also another way to access the Start menu and that is to press the key with Windows logo on your computer keyboard.
  • Now, when the Start menu options opens up, you need to click on the icon that is labeled by All Programs from the list of options. By doing so, you can access all the programs and functions that has been installed on your Windows computer.
  • Once you do that, you need to click on the icon that is labeled by Run from the Windows menu. This will open up a box that will allow you to open and run a particular folder.
  • Following which you need to type in the text %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\ into the Run dialog box. Doing so will take you to the Software Distribution section found on your Windows computer.
  • Next up, you need to open up the folder that is named as DataStore. This folder consists of all files that are associated to Windows Updates run in the past. Now, if you want to clear the history, you need to remove all the contents of this folder.
  • Finally, you can end the process by restarting your computer in order to save all the changes that you have made. When your computer restarts, you will find that your Windows Update history has been cleared. You can repeat this process every few months to keep the history cleared out.
