Getting Rid Of Unwanted Toolbars From Your Firefox Browser

Your Firefox toolbar menu might now be cluttered with many unnecessary toolbars and add-ons. Moreover, you might not remember installing some of these browser toolbars. This is because these days, it has become a common practise among software developers to bundle their software applications with some browser toolbar applications for their online websites and services.

This is actually a clever strategy of promoting their or their clients’ less popular websites by bundling a toolbar application for it with a very popular software application. If you were not very careful when installing these software applications, these unwanted toolbars would also be installed along with the application.

How to remove toolbar add-ons from your Firefox browser

Such toolbars can be very easily removed from your Firefox browser. Often, an adware browser toolbar would change the homepage settings and the default search bar in your browser. The attempts you make to change these settings back to default might not work, as the adware toolbar would keep on changing it every time you restart the browser. It is best to remove toolbar add-ons in such cases.

Here is how to remove all the unwanted browser toolbars from your Firefox browser. The Firefox browser has an Add-ons Manager wizard in it that can be used for disabling, enabling, updating or removing the different toolbars, add-ons and extensions in your browser.

To access this Add-ons Manager, go to Tools in the Firefox menu and click on the Add-ons option. This would launch the Add-ons Manager. There, select the Extensions option from the left side navigation menu. This would display the add-ons and extensions installed in the browser.

Here, from the list of add-ons select the browser toolbar that you want to remove. This would display the options Update, Disable, Remove, Options, etc for that add-on. Click on the Disable button, if you only want to temporarily remove the toolbar from the browser menu. You can enable it later following the same steps.

Click on the Remove button for the add-on if you want to permanently uninstall it from the browser. You would be asked to restart the Firefox browser for completing the un-installation. Once this is done, you can make the necessary changes to the browser homepage and the search bar settings.

Of course, some of the adware toolbars might be difficult to get rid of and you might need to use a toolbar remover tool in such cases.
